Applications Engineer – Multiple Locations

The Applications Engineer is a versatile resource for our Specialists, Engineers, and Business Unit Directors, providing engineering, technical, sales, and site support to company personnel and customers.

Essential Functions

Technical Expertise and Support

  • Represent and practice VSP’s approach to fluid sealing product selection, capabilities, and engineered performance analysis
  • Provide technical support, including torque calculations, material compatibility recommendations, and bolted flange connection integrity analysis
  • Write technical reports, including root cause analysis (RCA) reports
  • Interact with customers to address application issues and provide engineered design solutions
  • Develop, maintain, and support internal and customer-specific computer programs, including exploring AI (machine learning, etc) applications to enhance efficiency

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Compile, extract, analyze, and report data related to projects, products, and surveys
  • Pursue and document customer cost savings initiatives
  • Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction and efficiency improvements
  • Actively review current manufacturing procedures to identify cost-saving opportunities

Research and Development

  • Perform and document internal and customer-driven research and product testing
  • Participate in new product development following Quality-determined procedures

Training and Engagement

  • Present training classes to customers and VSP personnel
  • Participate in technical association activities on behalf of VSP
  • Collaboration and Relationship Building
  • Provide support to VSP Specialists, Engineers, and Business Unit Directors
  • Work closely with corporate administration and operations management to exceed customer service expectations
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster a cooperative and productive work environment

Public Representation

  • Project a favorable image of the company to promote public recognition of VSP’s products and services

Required Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience relating to essential job functions

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in technical/applications support at industrial, transportation, or power generation facilities
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Advanced certifications in the field
  • Active participation in relevant industry technical associations/committees
