Hex Technology’s (a VSP Technologies Company) CHUCK bolt reading awareness indicator (brain) reduces your site’s risk of leaks by showing crew members in vivid detail how their assembly practices can positively (or negatively) affect flange make up with CHUCK, essential but-confusing aspects like elastic interaction, bolt scatter, and the effects of alignment and lubrication – can be immediately seen and easily understood.
The CHUCK brain pairs with instrumented bolts from 5⁄8” to 1-¼” in diameter to provide real-time readings on achieved bolt loads. The unit can be applied to any appropriately sized flange from 4 bolt to 16 bolt. VSP Technologies provides fabrication specs for a “body” of demonstration flanges, however, users are free to “choose their own adventure” and pair the studs with any configuration they like.

CHUCK pairs with Rota Bolt load indicating fasteners created by James Walker. CHUCK is compatible with bolts sized5⁄8”, ¾”, 7⁄8”, 1”, 1-1⁄8” or 1-¼” in diameter bolts, which account for more than 90% of fasteners used on most sites.

CHUCK’s interface is accessible locally and wirelessly through Wi-Fi. Any laptop or smartphone can log in and see bolting data in real-time. There’s no need to call IT. CHUCK is a plug-and-play solution—no network connection required.
