Essential Functions
The Corporate QHS Manager is a senior-level position responsible to work across the organization and its various management structures to develop and maintain the Quality Management System and oversee critical QHS functions within the organization.
Quality Measures
The Corporate QHS Manager will be responsible for complying with ISO 9000:2015 quality measures and processes that create and control the products and services that VSP supplies and prescribes systematic monitoring of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of clients are continually met.
- Develop, implement, and monitor key quality objectives, systems, and procedures, and provide to management
- Analyze developing trends, present findings, and make necessary adjustments where needed.
- Lead and coordinate annual 3rd party audits
- Work with suppliers and customers to ensure the highest level of quality throughout the value stream
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to develop and implement a supplier qualification process to ensure the quality of buy/resell components and raw materials used in VSP manufacturing
- Implement and maintain document control systems
- Produce and train VSP employees in quality principles
- Ensure products are designed with adherence to legal and safety standards
- Audit and qualify suppliers of raw materials
- Evaluate the final output of products to determine their quality
- Create an inspiring team environment and an open quality and improvement culture
Health & Safety Measures
The Corporate QHS Manager will be responsible for operational safety, ensuring a safe place to work, documenting and reviewing risk assessments, maintaining the accident records, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, and other relevant QHS legislation.
- Work with management groups to develop effective safety training for personnel around QMS and safe work practices
- Reporting and analysis of accidents, and hazardous occurrences and analysis of all accidents, incidents, near-miss reports, and non-conformances and report to management
- Lead affected parties to eliminate risks
- Manage internal and external safety audits to ensure compliance with a safe work environment
- Work with Human Resources to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, reporting, and standards
- Provide personnel with safety-related information such as training sessions, emergency protocols, and proper use of personal protective equipment
- Conducting risk assessments to minimize workplace accidents, occupational illnesses, or other hazards
Process Improvement Measures
- Create and reinforce a culture of continuous process improvement that leads to greater safety and operational efficiencies
- Maintain and update all process related documents
- Optimize and redesign process flow to maximize efficiencies
- Conduct Kaizen events to improve operations
- Assess current processes and explore improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to enhance productivity and staff satisfaction
- Develop ways to improve company processes to ensure higher quality output and efficiency
As new office locations are opened, or businesses are acquired this role will lead management of these functions within the business to integrate these new ventures.
Travel
6-8 weeks per year of travel is expected.
Required Experience / Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Mgt., or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three years of experience in a Quality Management role related to essential job functions
- The employee must have a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and their own dependable transportation
