Applications Engineer Internship – Prince George, VA
Essential Functions
- Competently represent and practice VSP’s approach to fluid sealing product selection, capabilities, and engineered performance analysis
- Compilation, extraction, analysis, and reporting of data relative to projects, products, and surveys
- Provide technical support including torque calculations, material compatibility recommendations, and bolted flange connection integrity analysis
- Write technical reports including root cause analysis (RCA) reports
- Interact with customers regarding application issues and provide engineered design solutions
- Provide support to VSP Specialists, Engineers, and Business Unit Directors
- Develop, maintain, and support internal and customer-specific computer programs
- Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction and improved efficiency opportunities
- Perform and document internal and customer-driven research and product testing
- Participate in new product development following the appropriate Quality-determined procedures
- Actively review current manufacturing procedures to identify possible cost savings opportunities
Required Experience / Education
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Preferred Experience / Education
- Experience in technical/applications support at industrial, transportation, or power generation facilities
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing techniques
- Advanced certifications in the field
- Active participation in relevant industry technical associations/committees
